Border Bruins lead the series

Grand Forks Border Bruins.

Nash Wassing had another big performance offensively for the Grand Forks Border Bruins, scoring twice, including the winner on the power-play and adding an assist in their win over the Dynamiters and to take the series 2-0.

Wassing now has five goals in the series and nine in the KIJHL Teck Cup playoffs.

Russell Kosec led the Border Bruins with four points and assisted on the winning goal, and Levi Astill had three assists.

Eric Kahl was strong in goal earning a 22-save shutout.

The Border Bruins special teams was a big factor with the power-play going 4-for-11, and the penalty-kill was 7-for-7 and scored its league-leading fourth short-handed goal.

Josh Hager made 25 saves in front of a home crowd of 821 attendees, for the 6-0 win.

Rewind to game one, and the Border Bruins edged out the Nitros 6-4.

Brandon Gray one-timed the winner past Dynamiters goalie Josh Hager in the third period, while Nash Wassing potted a hat-trick to lead the Border Bruins to victory in front of 827 fans.

Eric Kahl stopped 28 of 32 shots for the win, while Levi Astill and Russell Kosec each collected three assists.

Among the Dynamiters goal scorers was former Border Bruin Nate Tillmanns and Remy Spooner scored their lone power-play goal on five tries. Their penalty-kill was perfect at 3-for-3.

Hager stopped 25 shots.
