Update October 7: The evacuation alert for Willow Road and Danshin Village Road due to the Crook Lake Wildfire 6km north west of Grand Forks has been rescinded.
Original Story
Residents near Crook Lake, approximately 6km north west of Grand Forks, can return home after a brush fire triggered a tactical evacuation this afternoon.
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary’s EOC Director Mark Stephens says local fire crews responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 3 in the Willow Drive and Danish Village Road area, which started a small brush fire.
Additional resources were brought in, including BC wildfire, to gain control.
“We just wanted to let residents know in that area that the tactical evacuation is over and that it has been, we are in an RDKB emergency operations centre issuing an evacuation alert for the area, so everyone is able to go back to their houses and just be under evacuation alert.” Said Stephens.
The tactical evacuation has been dropped to a tactical alert.
